Description

BB-C83 Coconut Container Wax is a soft coconut-based slab wax designed for container candles. It is a good option for makers who want a creamy luxury-style candle appearance, smooth tops, strong glass adhesion potential, and low shrinkage.

This wax is soft and should be used in containers, not freestanding candle shapes. Final results depend on your fragrance oil, wick, vessel, dye, room temperature, and cure time.

Key Features
  • Coconut-based wax for container candles
  • Soft slab form for easy cutting and melting
  • Creamy off-white luxury-style finish
  • Low shrink profile for clear glass jars
  • Good jar adhesion when properly tested
  • Strong cold and hot throw potential
How to Use
  1. Cut or break the soft slab wax into smaller pieces.
  2. Melt wax until fully liquid.
  3. Add fragrance oil at your tested fragrance-add temperature.
  4. Stir slowly and evenly until fully blended.
  5. Pour into a prepared jar, tin, or tealight cup.
  6. Allow the candle to cool fully before burn testing.
Suggested starting point: heat wax to about 200°F, add fragrance around 200°F, and test pouring around 190°F. Adjust based on your vessel, fragrance oil, and room temperature.
Fragrance & Wick Testing

A common fragrance load range for BB-C83 is 8–10%. Do not push fragrance load higher without testing. Too much fragrance oil can cause sweating, poor burn quality, wick clogging, or weak hot throw.

CD wicks are a common starting point for this wax, but wick size must be tested with your exact jar, fragrance oil, dye, and fragrance load.

Do not wick BB-C83 the same way you wick GB 464, GB 444, or IGI 6006. Soft coconut-based wax can burn differently even in the same jar.
Troubleshooting

BB-C83 can create smooth container candles, but formula testing still matters. Sweating, wet spots, sinkholes, weak scent throw, or wick issues can happen if the temperature, fragrance load, or wick size is wrong.

  • Sweating: Lower fragrance load or test a different fragrance oil.
  • Wet spots: Warm jars slightly and avoid fast cooling.
  • Sinkholes: Test a hotter pour and slower cooling process.
  • Weak scent throw: Test fragrance load, cure time, and wick size.
  • Large flame: Wick down and retest before selling finished candles.
  • Small flame: Wick up or reduce fragrance load if the candle struggles to burn.
Shipping & Storage

Store wax in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture, and strong odors.

BB-C83 is a soft coconut-based slab wax and may soften during hot-weather shipping. This usually does not damage the wax. Let the wax return to room temperature before cutting, weighing, or melting.

Q & A

Is BB-C83 beginner-friendly?
Yes, but it is best for makers who can test temperature, fragrance load, and wick size. It is soft and behaves differently from standard soy wax.

What is BB-C83 best used for?
It is best used for container candles, including glass jars, candle tins, and tealights.

Is BB-C83 pure coconut wax?
It is better described as a coconut-based container wax. Do not assume it is 100% coconut unless your supplier documentation specifically confirms that claim.

Is BB-C83 better than GB 464?
Not automatically. BB-C83 gives a softer, smoother coconut-style finish and low shrink profile. GB 464 is a classic soy container wax with wider beginner use. Choose based on your brand, vessel, fragrance oil, and burn tests.

Is BB-C83 better than IGI 6006?
They are different wax styles. BB-C83 is coconut-based and softer. IGI 6006 is a paraffin-soy blend known for strong hot throw and easy tops. Do not compare only by scent throw; compare burn, surface, adhesion, and brand positioning.

Can I use this wax for molds or pillar candles?
No. BB-C83 is too soft for freestanding candles. Use a pillar or mold wax instead.

Can I use this wax for wax melts?
It is mainly designed for container candles. For wax melts, use a harder tart or melt wax for better firmness and release.

Why is the wax in slab form?
Slab form is common for soft wax blends. Cut or break the slab into smaller pieces before melting for easier weighing and faster melting.

How long should candles cure?
Many makers test coconut-based candles after several days, but 1–2 weeks of curing may improve fragrance performance depending on the fragrance oil and formula.
