Description

GB 454 Coconut Soy Container Wax is a soy and coconut wax blend designed for container candles. It is a good choice for makers who want a smoother, cleaner-looking candle with better glass adhesion than many standard soy waxes.

This wax is often used as a stand-alone container wax and does not require extra additives for normal candle making. Final results still depend on your fragrance oil, wick, vessel, dye, room temperature, and cure time.

Key Features
  • Coconut soy blend for container candles
  • Good choice for jars, tins, and tealights
  • Smooth, polished candle appearance
  • Good glass adhesion when properly tested
  • Helps reduce frosting compared with standard soy wax
  • Strong cold and hot throw potential
How to Use
  1. Melt wax until fully liquid.
  2. Add fragrance oil at your tested fragrance-add temperature.
  3. Stir slowly and evenly for about 1–2 minutes.
  4. Pour into a prepared jar, tin, or tealight cup.
  5. Allow the candle to cool slowly and cure before burn testing.
Suggested starting point: heat wax to about 185°F, add fragrance around 180–185°F, and test pouring around 160–170°F. Adjust based on your vessel, fragrance oil, and room temperature.
Fragrance & Wick Testing

A common fragrance load range for GB 454 is 5–10%. Higher fragrance load is not automatically better. Too much fragrance oil can cause sweating, poor burn quality, weak hot throw, or surface issues.

CD, LX, and ECO wick series can be used as starting points, but wick size must be tested with your exact jar, fragrance oil, dye, and fragrance load.

Do not assume 454 will use the same wick as 464 or 444. Coconut soy blends can burn differently, even in the same jar.
Troubleshooting

Coconut soy wax can still show frosting, wet spots, rough tops, sweating, sinkholes, or uneven burn issues if the formula is not tested correctly.

  • Rough tops: Adjust pour temperature or use gentle heat to smooth the surface if needed.
  • Wet spots: Warm jars slightly and avoid rapid cooling.
  • Frosting: Reduce temperature swings and allow candles to cool slowly.
  • Sweating: Lower fragrance load or test a different fragrance oil.
  • Weak scent throw: Test fragrance load, cure time, and wick size.
Shipping & Storage

Store wax in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture, and strong odors.

During hot-weather shipping, wax flakes may soften or stick together. This usually does not damage the wax. Let the wax return to room temperature before use.
