Description

Sand Wax DIY Candle Wicks are made for granulated Sand Wax candles. Instead of melting wax and anchoring a wick like a traditional candle, these wicks can be inserted directly into loose sand wax for a quick refillable candle setup.

They are best used with Sand Wax in heat-safe containers, bowls, vases, and layered candle designs. Final burn results depend on your container diameter, wax depth, fragrance load, wick placement, and burn testing.

Key Features
  • Specialized wick for granulated Sand Wax candles
  • Easy insert-and-burn setup for refillable candle jars
  • Works with white or colorful Sand Wax
  • Good for wide containers and decorative bowls
  • Can be used with or without the wick tab depending on container style
  • Beginner-friendly, but burn testing is still required
How to Use
  1. Fill a clean, heat-safe container with Sand Wax.
  2. Remove the wick tab if using the wick directly inside loose Sand Wax.
  3. Push the wick straight down into the center of the wax.
  4. Leave about 1/4" of wick exposed above the wax surface.
  5. Light the wick and allow a melt pool to form.
  6. Monitor the first burn and check flame size, melt pool, and container heat.
  7. After cooling, refresh the setup with new wax or a new wick as needed.
For shorter containers, you may keep the wick tab attached and secure it to the bottom of the jar with a wick sticker or glue before filling with Sand Wax.
Wick & Container Testing

These wicks are designed for Sand Wax, but they are not a replacement for burn testing. Container diameter, wax depth, fragrance load, color layers, and airflow can all change how the candle burns.

They are especially useful for wider Sand Wax containers around 4.5–5 inches or larger. Smaller containers may need a different wick size or a shorter burn time.

Do not assume one wick works safely in every container. Test each container size and wax setup before selling finished candles.
Best Uses
  • Refillable candles: Add fresh Sand Wax and replace the wick when needed.
  • Layered candles: Use with colorful Sand Wax for sand-art candle designs.
  • Wide containers: Good starting point for larger bowls, vases, and jars.
  • DIY candle bars: Useful for workshops, party candles, and beginner candle kits.
  • Unscented or scented Sand Wax: Can be tested with both plain and fragrance-mixed Sand Wax.
Troubleshooting

Most Sand Wax wick problems come from wrong container size, exposed wick length, fragrance overload, wick placement, or using a non-heat-safe vessel.

  • Flame is too large: Trim the wick shorter, reduce burn time, or test a smaller wick.
  • Flame is too small: Leave slightly more exposed wick or test a larger wick.
  • Uneven melt pool: Re-center the wick and test container diameter.
  • Wax burns too close to glass: Use a wider container or adjust wick placement.
  • Wick will not stay straight: Insert deeper into the wax or use the tab method for shorter containers.
  • Oily Sand Wax: Lower fragrance load and let scented Sand Wax air out before use.
Shipping & Storage

Store wicks in a cool, dry place away from moisture, dust, fragrance oil, and direct sunlight.

Keep wicks straight and clean before use. Bent, oil-soaked, or damaged wicks may burn unevenly and should be tested carefully before use in finished candles.

Q & A

Are these wicks only for Sand Wax?
They are designed for Sand Wax candles. For regular soy, paraffin, beeswax, or container candles, use a wick series matched to that wax and vessel.

What container size works best?
These wicks are a good starting point for wider Sand Wax containers around 4.5–5 inches or larger. Always burn test your exact container.

Do I remove the wick tab?
For loose Sand Wax setups, you can remove the tab and push the wick directly into the wax. For shorter containers, you may keep the tab and attach it to the bottom like a traditional candle wick.

How much wick should be exposed?
Leave about 1/4" of wick exposed above the Sand Wax before lighting.

Can I use these with Colorful Sand Wax?
Yes. They can be tested with white or colorful Sand Wax, including layered candle designs.

Can I use these with scented Sand Wax?
Yes, but test carefully. Too much fragrance oil can change the burn, make the wax oily, and affect flame behavior.

Can I reuse the container?
Yes, if the container remains clean, heat-safe, and undamaged. Replace old wick pieces and add fresh Sand Wax before relighting.

Can I use these for wax melts?
No. Wax melts do not use wicks. For wax melts, use a dedicated wax melt wax such as GW 494 or BB-T30.

Can I use these for regular jar candles?
Not as the default choice. These are sand-wax-specific wicks. Regular jar candles need wick testing based on wax type, jar diameter, fragrance load, and dye.

Do I still need to burn test?
Yes. Every finished candle setup must be burn tested before selling or gifting.
